Kommentar/Beschreibung

The aim of the course is to introduce students of literature to the basic terminological and theoretical apparatus needed for the study of literature in the English language. The necessarily selective contents of the course fall mainly into 3 categories: critical terminology (for poetry, prose, and drama analysis), concepts of literary theory, and British literary history. An introduction to the methodology of academic research is also included (e.g., MLA data bank and bibliographic style).

You will need an overall 60% score to pass this course.

Please note: To ensure a good level of supervision, the number of participants is strictly limited to 25.

Reading: Each lecturer will announce on what required reading the course will be based.

Requirements: Attendance in the first session is mandatory.

Diese Veranstaltung gehört zum Anmeldeset "SS 2025_IntroLit".
Please note that BA English/ELLC students can choose between the Introduction to the Study of American Literature and Culture and the Introduction to the Study of British Literature and Culture, irrespective of what course they may have taken before. BA NAS students, please go for the American Literature introduction only.

  • Die Anmeldung ist möglich von 03.03.2025, 08:00 bis 31.03.2025, 23:59.
  • Es wird eine festgelegte Anzahl von Plätzen in den Veranstaltungen verteilt.
    Die Plätze werden in der Reihenfolge der Anmeldung vergeben.
  • Mindestens eine der folgenden Bedingungen muss zur Anmeldung erfüllt sein:
    • Abschluss ist Bachelor (2 Fächer)
    • Abschluss ist BA Wirtschaft/Beruf
    • Abschluss ist Bachelor (Profil Lehramt)
  • Diese Regel gilt von 03.03.2025 08:00 bis 31.03.2025 23:59.
    Mindestens eine der folgenden Bedingungen muss zur Anmeldung erfüllt sein:
