Comment/Description

The poets Cyrus Cassells and Dante Micheaux are putting together a special issue of the New American Studies Journal on contemporary African American poetry. That journal is published by Göttingen University Press. This course will provide students with the opportunity to analyze poetry that is hot off the press. It will also give us the chance to discuss issues of representation, ethnicity, and identity in relation to academic publishing. Students who are interested will have the opportunity to help translate some of the poems into German.
The poems will be provided.

Registration: Attendance for this class is limited to 25 students. Binding (!) registration on Stud.IP between 01 March and 31 March 2024 is required. All news concerning this class will be posted on Stud.IP as well. The class will start in the first week of the semester. For final registration, participants need to attend the first session of class.
