Kommentar/Beschreibung

Biological events are rapid and often take place within msec-sec time range. These processes can be investigated by means of transient kinetics, which is an essential method to study the mechanisms of enzymes, protein-ligand and protein-protein interactions. Detailed transient kinetics complements high resolution structural studies and together the two methods can give a molecular explanation of biological function. In this course we will explain the basic principles of transient kinetics, make experiments using rapid kinetics instrumentations, and discuss the data analysis, including numerical integration and global fit. Each full day will consist of 2 h seminar, 4 h hands-on practical work, and finish with a 1 h evaluation/feedback tutorial.

The following experiments are planned:

Protein-ligand binding using stopped-flow technique.



Each student will be required to attend two days, but the exact format of the course will depend on the number of students enrolled and the departmental health and safety regulations at the time the course is administered. If attendance exceeds the number of individuals permitted in the meeting room, lectures will be administered remotely for all students and wet-lab experiments will be performed in smaller groups.





Important:

Once participation has become binding after the signing-out period, cancellation is only possible via the GGNB or GAUSS Office with a) sick certificate, or b) statement by supervisor for scientific reasons. If you do not provide this, you will be excluded from courses for the next 12 months, as well as travel grants and other financial support. No exceptions.

You can register and sign out for methods courses in October 2024 from 1-20 August 2024. The slots will be assigned around 25 August 2024.
In exceptional circumstances, you can still sign out until 31 August 2024.

If you do not provide this, you will be excluded from courses for the next 12 months, as well as travel grants and other financial support.
