Kommentar/Beschreibung

Similar to language itself, the teaching of language is also a constantly changing concept that has been influenced by historical contexts. After a global pandemic and the boom of new technology like artificial intelligence, call for more innovations with various technologies in language classrooms is more urgent than ever. Technology can greatly assist in-person language instruction while also reshaping the interactions and teaching practices. A modern language teacher should be equipped with knowledge about various technological possibilities in language instruction.

In the course, different aspects of technology in language classrooms will be introduced and discussed with a scaffolding process. Starting from the historical background and some core research issues, you will develop a thorough understanding of the application of different technologies including chatting, telecollaboration, interactive assessments, social network, videos games, artificial intelligence, etc. For which competence are they the most effective? How can they be better implemented? How can they be incorporated into existing curricular? These questions are the key points to be addressed. There will also be many hands-on opportunities for you to design teaching activities using different technologies individually or in groups. The main goal is to prepare you for the various technol ogical offerings in real life so that you will be able to use them in most effective ways when teaching the English language.

Registration via StudIP starts on March 1st at 8.00. The number of participants is restricted to 15 students.
