Comment/Description

Inhaltliche Beschreibung: Die Veranstaltung "Cases and Developments in International Criminal Law" orientiert sich sowohl sprachlich als auch didaktisch am Unterrichtssystem englischer oder US-amerikanischer Law Schools. Dies zeichnet sich zum einen durch die Unterrichtssprache Englisch aus. Zum anderen besteht die Veranstaltung in der Analyse und Präsentation völkerstrafrechtlicher Entscheidungen mit eigenständigen Schlussfolgerungen durch die Studierenden. Didaktisch folgt sie insofern dem Modell des inverted classrooms: Es ist also den Studierenden überlassen, die Entscheidungen aus einer vom Dozenten zuvor zusammengestellten Liste auszuwählen, zu analysieren und vorzustellen. Diese Leistung – Analyse und Präsentation der Entscheidung mit eigenständigen Schlussfolgerungen – wird bewertet und bildet die Grundlage – neben der durchgängigen Teilnahme an der Veranstaltung – eines abschließenden (qualifizierten) Zeugnisses.


The course "Cases and Developments in International Criminal Law" is based both linguistically and didactically on the teaching system of English or US American law schools. This means, on the one hand, that the course will be held in English. On the other hand, the course consists of the analysis and presentation of international criminal law decisions with independent conclusions by the students. Didactically, it follows the model of the inverted classroom: it is left to the students to select, analyse and present the decisions from a list compiled by the lecturer beforehand. This performance - analysis and presentation of the decision with independent conclusions - is assessed by the lecturer and forms the basis - in addition to the consistent participation in the course - of a final (qualified) certificate.

Die zu analysierenden Entscheidungen haben mitunter einen erheblichen Umfang. Die Veranstaltung setzt daher nicht nur sichere Englischkenntnisse, sondern auch zwingend völkerstrafrechtliche Grundkenntnisse, bspw. durch die Teilnahme an der Vorlesung "Völkerstrafrecht, einschließlich humanitäres Völkerrecht", voraus. Die Anwesenheit in jeder Sitzung ist erforderlich, vor allem wenn die Studierenden ein qualifiziertes Zeugnis erhalten wollen.
Für die Schwerpunktbereichsprüfung kann eine vorbereitende Studienleistung i.S.v § 9 Abs. 1 c) SchPrO i.d.F. vom 5.10.2012 in Form einer schriftlichen Entscheidungsanalyse mit mündlicher Präsentation erbracht werden (Seminarleistung, s.o.). Diese Leistung kann auch als sonstige Seminarleistung anerkannt werden Eine doppelte Anmeldung in FlexNow unter den verschieden Studienabschnitten ist erforderlich. Eine Anmeldung über das Online-Anmeldesystem GAIUS ist für alle Leistungsnachweise erforderlich.
The decisions to be analysed are sometimes of considerable scope. The course therefore requires not only a secure knowledge of English, but also mandatory basic knowledge of international criminal law, for example, through participation in the respective lecture of the Law Faculty. Attendance at every session is required, especially if students wish to receive a qualified certificate.
For the specialisation area examination, a preparatory course achievement in the sense of § 9 Para. 1 c) SchPrO in the version of 5.10.2012 in the form of a written decision analysis with oral presentation can be provided (seminar achievement, see above). This performance can also be recognised as other seminar performance. A double registration in FlexNow under the different study sections is required. Registration via the online registration system GAIUS is required for all certificates of achievement.
