This course will discuss concepts and methods of renormalization group theory, a powerful tool for systematic coarse graining, as has e.g. been successfully applied in describing phase transitions. Specific contents are: - Introduction of field theory in classical and quantum systems - Real space renormalization - Momentum space renormalization - Exact renormalization group - Applications, including extensions to non-equilibrium systems This course is on the master level. |
