Comment/Description

Trainer: Heli Korhonen, [Scienza Science Coaching, Berlin][1].

Location: This is an online workshop. The log-in data will be communicated to registered participants in due time.

Workshop description:

The doctoral thesis can make strenuous demands on researchers’ time, energy and ultimately, health. This interactive, solution-oriented workshop looks at ways to reconcile high expectations within academia, a large workload, financial pressures and family needs, and questions about one’s own priorities, values as well physical and mental health. We will examine the personal and professional expectations faced by the participants and identify ways to create individual solutions for better self-care and resilience. We will consider the specific situation of PhD candidates in regard to “typical” challenges they may encounter in their everyday work life. Our focus will be on developing strategies in order to deal with those challenges. Thus, we will explore time management techniques, approaches to dealing with stress, practice assertive communication and mindfulness.
Through trainer input, guided self-reflection and group discussions, participants will work to uncover their healthy alignment with individual values, professional expectations and families’ needs. We will create more awareness and appreciation for life balance and gain new tools to achieve this.
