Comment/Description

Argumentation plays an immensely important role in linguistics as in any other scientific discipline. The goal of arriving at a conclusion or solving a particular analytic problem can only be achieved if you approach language with the methods of science.
The colloquium addresses advanced students of the linguistic modules. We deal with fundamental questions of the writing process, how to find and investigate a topic in linguistics and how to structure a linguistic paper/thesis properly by following a coherent line of argumentation. Students will get personal feedback and gain qualification in discussing a linguistic topic adhering to academic standards.
The course is mandatory for students who write their master thesis in linguistics.
