Comment/Description

On this practical translation course, we will translate non-fictional and fictional German texts into English. We will also discuss common stumbling blocks in German-to-English translations and work on expanding your vocabulary. By the end of the course, you will be able to prepare and compare translations of certain genres and be able to identify the merits and flaws of translations. For this course, you need native proficiency in German.

Assessment: regular attendance, active participation in class and a final exam

To secure their place on the course, participants need to attend the first session.


Please note: For the modules

B.Eng.204/206/207, you need to have completed the B.Eng.201 module (Grammar + Academic Writing) to register for the translation exam.
