Miscellanea ## The seminar takes place in a hybrid format (approx. 2/3 face-to-face sessions and 1/3 online sessions). The exact schedule will be announced later.

Attention: Save the date for the presentation day on 24 July! By signing up to this course, students confirm their availability on the final project presentation day, Wednesday 24 July, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

During the semester, you will be working on own projects in small groups online and offline. The outputs of these research projects will be presented to other students from different courses. You will thus receive external feedback as well as insights into other seminars that you haven't attended on this occasion.

[All students participate in the group work and the presentation day. Students choosing the presentation format will present the group work orally on this occasion. Students with a portfolio will write a short reflection essay (1000 words) on their group work experience.]

More details will follow.

In this seminar, we will seek to make sense of the digital transformation of society, politics and the economy in contemporary China. Students will be introduced to fundamental concepts and theories of digitization and their application to understand China’s social transformation in the 21st century.

Following a theory-driven introduction, this seminar will offer interactive formats with optional topics for students to choose from in the “Economic Transformation”, “Societal Transformation” and “Political Transformation” parts of the seminar.

Depending on their choice of module, students will either contribute to the seminar with an oral presentation on one aspect of digital transformation or with an online portfolio prepared for one of the virtual sessions.
